Circus Smirkus

Recently, we took the kids to an area youth circus in Greensboro, Vermont.  The Circus Smirkus is a very professionally presented group of teenagers who progress through summer circus camps and train to present a show every summer throughout New England.  We had never seen them before, and we were very impressed.  I haven’t seen Cirque du Soleil for a number of years, but the types of acrobatic displays were very similar.  These kids were good!  Almost the most impressive part was the grace with which they carried on when they dropped the item they were juggling, or fell off their unicycle.

The theme for this year’s show was fairy tales (I was a  bit disappointed in myself to realize that my kids don’t know many of those stories; I have to work on that.)  One of the common threads running throughout the show was the Big Bad Wolf chasing Little Red Riding Hood.  The young man playing the wolf was one of the veterans of the group, and was very entertaining.  Anna was absolutely smitten with him.  We waited a bit after the show to mingle with the performers, and Anna and Will got a chance to chat with him for  a bit.  Anna was dumbstruck; it was very cute!

Hi- What a great experience for the kids! Now I want some popcorn. All three of my little ones are sleeping at the moment. Lucy is 2 pounds of unbridled energy! She is a cuddlebug, and we love her! Thank you so much!

Anna fits right in the circus with that colorful outfit – so cute! I can see why she was smitten with the Big Bad Wolf – even with the wolf makeup on, you can tell he is a looker. Plus, he looks a bit like Jason from China – I guess that’s her “type”.
